Redmi Note Series 12
Hello readers, Xiaomi’s next smartphones under the Redmi Note Series are finally out. Yes, we are talking about the Redmi Note Series 12 smartphones, the next feat of Redmi smartphones boasting a better camera, better-charging speed, and a better processor. So has Xiaomi hit it right in the spot with the new Note Series 12? You will find it in this blog.
Today, we will talk about the most expensive and the most spec-filled smartphone from the Note 12 Series, the Redmi Note 12 Explorer Edition. We have kept aside the Note 12 Pro and the Note 12 Pro Plus version because we want to find the capability of the top-tier model; we can review the lower-end models later.
So, the craziest part of this phone is its 210 watts charger, and the next massive thing is its 200 MP camera. Although we have seen the 200 MP camera in the Moto Edge Ultra phone, too, we will see in the coming days how this Redmi Note 12 EE performs in comparison to that phone.
Coming back to the charger, the 210 watts charger is extremely heavy. It weighs 220 grams, and you will be surprised to know that the phone only weighs some 210 grams. Crazy stuff, right?
Design
Now, if we talk about the design of the phone, it looks premium. It has an aluminum frame, and the back panel is made of glass which looks bold. In fact, it is mirror glass, and we can see our faces on it.
The Camera module of the phone is like the one we saw in the Realme 9 Series, but this phone feels heavy. The phone boasts a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, which looks so outdated, wish it had an under-display fingerprint scanner.
But the surprising part is that Xiaomi still has not taken out the 3.5MM headphone jack, and like most of the Xiaomi phones, this phone also has the IR Blaster, using which this phone can be turned into a remote controller of your AC, TV, etc.
The phone is packed with dual speakers which support Dolby Atmos, so there is no compromise on your multimedia needs. The X-Axis Linear Motor on this phone will make you feel like you are using some expensive Samsung S-series phone. The haptics you get through that linear motor is out of this world; this is the first time we like the haptics of a Xiaomi phone.
Display
Now, coming to the display, the Redmi Note 12 Explorer Edition sports a 6.67 inches OLED Display, and it looks so neat and punchy. With Dolby Vision and HDR 10+ support, your multimedia experience is only going to get better here. The display supports a high refresh rate of 120 Hz, so, you are going to feel that smoothness and jitter-free scrolling when browsing the web.
Talking more about the display, the phone has a max brightness of 900 nits. As we all know that mid-range phones now a days boast at least 1200 nits of max brightness, but we have noticed that despite having only 900 nits of brightness, the phone’s display looks extremely bright under direct sunlight, so there is no compromise on outdoor visibility of the display.
Talking about something unfavorable, there is only one part in the display section where we feel something has been compromised, and that is the over sharpness in YouTube videos. Yes, we were watching some YouTube videos, and we felt that the colors were looking over-sharp. They did not look natural. We do not know if they can fix this with some update later or not, but we hope they do.
Battery
Now, let us talk about the craziest part of this phone; the battery! This device embodies a 4300 mAH battery which supports a whopping 210 watts of charging speed. The brand claims that the device gets fully charged within 9 mins, but we tested it and found that the phone took exactly 14 mins to get fully charged (from 1% to 100%), but the room temperature plays a crucial part here; if the room is too warm or too cold, the charging speed will vary according to that.
Camera
Finally, coming to the enormous 200 MP camera this device accommodates, it takes very delicate photos. The sensor used here is the latest from Samsung, called the HPX. It is loaded with OIS and sports an aperture of f/1.65, which is big.
Apart from the main camera, the camera module has the usual 8+2 MP (Ultrawide + Macro) cameras, which are common in mid-range devices these days.
We took some quick shots from the main 200 MP Camera and found that the colors are very improved in this latest 200MP camera sensor manufactured by Samsung. Skin tone, too, is very much improved. You know, Redmi phones usually capture highly saturated photos, and skin tones also do not look natural, but here that problem is solved. This is the first time we love the camera of any Redmi device.
As of now, the Redmi Note 12 series is only available in China, and it is yet to be launched worldwide. So, let us see how much of the mid-range smartphone market it captures.
What do you think? Will the Redmi Note 12 Series be Xiaomi’s highest-selling Note Series phone? Or will it be just another average seller? Let us know in the comments section.
