The NFL is headed back to Las Vegas less than a year after the city hosted the NFL Draft. This time, the best in the league will convene for the Pro Bowl at the state-of-the-art Allegiant Stadium.
In 2021, the Pro Bowl made its way to Las Vegas after a four-year run in Orlando’s Camping World Stadium. This marked the first time the Raiders’ home field hosted the star-studded event.
This year’s Pro Bowl will have a fresh twist. Instead of the traditional exhibition game, players will participate in a thrilling 7-on-7 flag football showdown between the NFC and AFC, with Eli Manning and Peyton Manning serving as coaches for their respective conferences.
Prior to the main event, fans can look forward to a series of skills contests that will pit the two conferences against each other. This includes a best-catch competition and an exciting twist on the classic game of dodgeball.
Where is the Pro Bowl this year 2023?
The NFL moved the Pro Bowl to Las Vegas starting in 2021 and it looks like it will remain in the desert for the foreseeable future.
Now called the NFL Pro Bowl Games, the exhibition was briefly in Orlando before moving to Paradise. Next year, the Super Bowl will also be played in Las Vegas.
Goodbye Hawaii, Hello Orlando and Las Vegas: The Journey of the Pro Bowl
Why did the Pro Bowl leave Hawaii?
The NFL’s decision to relocate the Pro Bowl from Hawaii to Orlando was influenced by a multitude of factors, one of which was to leverage the marketing power of ESPN. By combining the Pro Bowl with the magic of Disney World, the league aimed to provide players with a vacation experience while also engaging fans.
The move to Las Vegas, another one of the United States’ premier tourist destinations, was likely motivated by similar considerations. Hawaii’s Aloha Stadium, which was once home to the Pro Bowl, faced a moratorium on new events in 2020 due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, effectively closing the door on a possible return to the venue.
